Christmas Catch-Up

Wow, it has been a busy month and I'm just now getting the chance to blog again. I have had a lot of great feedback from the Bridal Showcase and it looks like I'll have a full spring and summer shooting weddings.

I wrapped up Christmas sessions this morning with the Knapton girls, Saige and Piper. They were fun (and so were their outfits!), but I don't think Piper was having so much fun with a camera in her face. Saige, on the other hand, was born to be a model.

Bridal Show Success

Thanks to all of the brides at this year's Bridal Showcase at the Plaza. All of my preparation paid off and allowed me to meet some great people. I also owe a huge thank you to two of my closest friends, Sabrina and Missy, for helping me out. It would have been hard to pull it off without them.

If you came by the booth today, don't forget about the incentive card that you received in your packet! Book your date~they're filling up fast!

Fall Fun

Today I had a session with the Pawlas family. I teach with Laura and Russ so I had a good idea of how the session would go. The kids were a bundle of energy on this beautiful fall day, but it made the time so much fun! There was lots of giggling, a few wipe-outs, and even some time to fish in Grandpa and Grandma Pawlas' lake!

Check it out!

When you're out in the community, keep on the lookout for the latest issue of the Family Guide, put out by Central Virginia Guides. I've put an ad in there...page 40...plus, the publishers used some of my photographs as fillers throughout the magazine. I'm really excited about this!

(If you click on the post title, it will take you to the magazine's website.)

Studio time

It's been a couple of weeks since I last posted, but on Saturday my friends Tom and Jenn Butler invited me into the recording stuio to capture this exciting time for them. They are getting ready to produce their very first worship CD. Check out their website at KindleMinistries.com.

I love this one of Tom, finally stepping up to the microphone. The colors are awesome!

Sisters

This weekend I went to Richmond to visit my younger sister Holly and do some bridal portraits of her. She came to the conclusion this week that she doesn't know if her dress is "the dress" but we did some anyway and also shot some photos of her in my wedding dress.

Holly's soon-to-be inlaws own a house on the "rivah", as it is affectionately called, about an hour east of Richmond. It was a gorgeous day, so we took advantage of the newly repaired pier, beach area, and the neighborhood gazebo. It was so much fun!
All of these images are of Holly in my dress, just in case they end up in the wrong hands (her fiancee). I don't want to ruin anything!

Looking at this photograph, it is like looking in a mirror. Strange...

Thanks to my red-headed sis for a great time and to Roy and Linda for opening up their home (and the delicious poundcake).

Ray

My friends Mark and Leah had their little boy Ray two weeks ago (see post below). To celebrate the new baby, I went to their house for a session. But Ray had other ideas after deciding he wasn't in a photogenic mood and that it was time to eat.

I think this was my favorite shot of all. So sweet.

Seeing this shot made me laugh so hard. It's almost as if Ray is sticking out his tongue, saying "ha ha, not tonight lady".

And one last shot of the new family.

"Izzy"

This morning, I got the chance to spend a little time with two of my husband's friends from high school and their little girl, Isabelle. She was all over the place, talking about the wet grass and flowers and her bright purple bear. Izzy really got laughing when Daddy decided to tickle her, and I saw some great smiles! Here's a sneak peak of our session.

Babies Everywhere!

I had two friends give birth yesterday, so today I went to the hospital for a little camera time with the babies (and of course to see the new mommas Leah and Shaun). Let's welcome Ray and Eve...

You might not be able to tell, but Ray has a good two pounds on little Eve, and look at those long fingers!

Eve, flashing her sign for the camera.

Both are absolutely beautiful and I'm looking forward to watching them grow!

My very first blog!

I've finally decided to start a blog, mostly so clients can get a sneak peek of their photos before they have all been edited and also so I can post updates on the growth of the business.

Lately, I have mostly been focusing on advertising and spreading the word about Simple Reflections. I have a few ideas rolling around in my head, fighting for my time so that I can develop them more thoroughly. An ad has just been placed with the Lynchburg Family Guide, so make sure to pick up your copy next month! I will be setting up a booth at the bridal show in November-if you plan to be there, stop by to say hi. Getting things together for that and anticipating the large crowd is keeping me busy.

Here are a few images of my latest senior, Lacie. We had a blast during our session downtown.
