Alexis + Harrison: Family Time {Richmond Family Photographer}

I love shooting these two kids! I first met them last year about this time, but since they live in the Richmond area, we have to make do with the few sessions we get. I was planning a visit to my sister last weekend when Alexis and Harrison's mom found out and asked if I could squeeze them in. Of course I could!

The weather had other plans for us though. We had originally decided on Maymont (if you've never been there, GO!) but found out a half-marathon would be starting about the same time as our session. Then we agreed to meet in Carytown...until the rain began just as I was arriving. A quick call was made to The Jefferson Hotel in downtown Richmond, an incredibly generous lady answered the phone, and we ended up shooting around the beautiful property. Normally The Jefferson charges a huge fee for even shooting outside the building, but apparently the lady felt sorry for us and all of our runied plans and gave us permission to use the hotel and property, gratis!

This one melts my heart, and I think it will for Alexis and Harrison's mom too...
Miss Fashion Queen Lexi~she loved this outfit and the furry boots she had on so much, she wanted to wear them to an afternoon birthday party. She didn't quite understand that it wasn't yet cold enough for them!

Harrison has grown and changed so much in the past year! I couldn't get over how fast he was on his feet and his gorgeous locks. Please pray for this little guy...he's got some medical issues going on right now that are baffling the doctors.

Kara: Contest Finalist {Lynchburg Kids Photographer}

Kara was one of the last remaining contest finalists to have her mini-session. We wanted it to correspond with her birthday, which is today~ happy birthday Kara! Here's the birthday girl...

On the Other Side

My amazing second shooter, Shannon, is usually on-duty strictly for weddings. But I figured it was finally time to get some family photos of Bert, Delaney, and myself since I'm usually the one behind the camera. I am absolutely thrilled with the moments she captured for us...now I know how my clients feel when they see their photos for the first time!

There were some shots I knew I wanted, like the first two. I like the cohesion that they have when they're both in black and white. This first one is my absolute favorite!

The rest are candids of our new family...didn't Shannon do a great job?

Yes, Delaney sticks her tongue out all.the.time.

Caden: One {Lynchburg Kids Photographer}

Now this little guy is a cutie~blonde hair, blue eyes, and he could babble your ear off! Caden and I explored Randolph College a bit Saturday afternoon. He even let me get some shots of him in the grass, which his mom told me is pretty unusual! Take a look~

Hartzog: Family Time {Lynchburg Family Photographer}

Last time I had a session with Maddyn and her parents, she was an itty bitty thing. Now she's all grown up and has a baby sister to boot! Baby Cami was all over the camera with her big blue eyes as we all enjoyed the cool Saturday morning on the campus of Lynchburg College.

Delaney: Twelve Weeks {Lynchburg Kids Photographer}

Delaney turned three months last weekend, so I took her over to Old City Cemetery with a couple of blankets, a basket, and a way-too-cute hat! The hat was given to her by my friend Candace and I think it finished off the portraits perfectly. Delaney however, wasn't buying it, as evidenced by the scowls in almost every single shot I got. I love the backdrop that the lotus pond provided!

Mom + Dad: Thirty Years {Waynesboro Wedding Photographer}

My parents celebrated their thirtieth anniversary last week! This shot was taken over Labor Day weekend~they had a huge bash to celebrate with all of their friends and family.

Alma: Lynchburg Star

Introducing Alma Hesson, the newly crowned Lynchburg Star! Alma won out against ten other finalists last month to win time in a recording studio and a photo session by moi', among other things. Alma was a blast to hang out with and definitely had the personality to make the best of our time together. Here's a sampling of my favorite shots~

Family Portrait Month {Lynchburg Family Photographer}

Help us create a child's smile!

Next month, Simple Reflections will be joining with a group of photographers nationwide in a very special portrait promotion. Throughout October, we will celebrate Family Portrait Month, a wonderful opportunity for you to update your family portrait and help to support Operation Smile, which treats children around the world with cleft lips, cleft palates, and other facial deformities.

More than 100,000 children are born with a facial deformity every year in Operation Smile partner countries, yet tens of thousands remain untreated. Your session fee donation truly will help change a life.

We will be pledging $75 from every portrait session to Operation Smile. That is 100% of your session fee going straight to the wonderful charity. The best part~ this promotion isn't restricted to family portraits. Newborns, kids, and maternity too!

We believe that Family Portrait Month is a wonderful way to teach children the value of reaching out to others. Even small children can understand the importance of Operation Smile's work, and they are eager to help these needy children.

We hope you will join with us in helping to make this vital work possible. Don’t forget that the holiday season is right around the corner, so there’s no better time for a family portrait, which is always appreciated as gifts for family and friends and to send along with holiday greeting cards.

As always . . . we look forward to creating some truly wonderful portraits of your family.
